Sisterhood on the Underground
On June 4th, join the ladies of Delta Sigma Theta for an unforgettable Underground Railroad Experience in Wilmington. Led by Conductor Dee, your 3-mile journey includes a trek through historic grounds in Delaware to Maryland and back! You'll see, touch and are invited to take a selfie with an original 1700's stone marker that freedom seekers would have seen as they crossed out of Maryland into a state known for its extensive Underground Railroad activity. We invited you to step back in time with us on this guided trail-walk. On this immersive experience you will learn about some of the self-emancipated champions who liberated themselves through Delaware and the stories behind their escapes! A freedom seeker sack with Underground Railroad inspired snacks is included for each registered participant. Signed waivers are required in order to participate and will be emailed to registrants. Comfortable sneakers, long lightweight pants are suggested. Bug spray with DEET highly recommended as well as a bottle of water. This is a trail walk. The subject matter of slavery and the Underground Railroad is authentic and is of a sensitive nature. It may not be appropriate for some audiences.
